Course Description 

The SPI Registry Prep Course has been modeled after the current ARDMS_® exam content outline to assist you in your registry preparation. The course provides a simplified breakdown of the necessary materials for preparing for the ARDMS_® exam, which includes detailed information provided by a live instructor. Each review topic is segmented into smaller sections of information to assist in studying specific areas and in locating the information you would like to review. The outline format provides the key points and facts in an easy to read format.

Goals for the Course

• To assist Sonographers in obtaining their ARDMS® certification.
• To provide a complete review of the necessary information a Sonographer should have mastered in order to obtain the certification.
• To provide Sonographers with a review course that can be easily revised as the field changes.
• To provide experienced Sonographers with a comprehensive review of the current information in their field of practice for continuing their Sonography education.

 Course Objectives 

Upon completion of the course, the Sonographer should be able to:

• Discuss the role of the Sonographer in utilizing universal precautions and sterile techniques
• Describe how to care for patients in an emergency situation
• List key factors in patient communication and privacy
• Perform basic mathematical calculations related to ultrasound physics
• Describe the factors involved in the production of sound
• Discuss the interaction of sound with matter
• List and describe the components of an ultrasound transducer
• Define beam intensity and describe potential bioeffects
• Differentiate pulsed and continuous techniques
• Describe the various functions performed by the transducer and how to manipulate them for the best image quality
